God's Blessings on Berean
Berean Baptist Church was organized as a church on June 16, 1957 under the leadership of John Frier, Jr. Although the church was small, John and his wife, Ruth had great expectations of spreading God's Word and seeing souls saved and lives changed for God's glory.
The church moved its meeting place from a storefront to a building on Murdock Road, then on to a larger building on Buckner Boulevard before finally moving, in September 1973, into their brand new building which is the current location in Sunnyvale, TX. At that time there was one building that included the worship center and an educational wing. Since that time, a new worship center, adult educational wing, and Student Building have been added to the campus.
While the church is very thankful for the buildings and land that comprise the Berean campus, more importantly we are so grateful for God's hand on the ministry through more than five decades. The church has been able to support hundreds of missionaries, mission projects, and mission outreach opportunities all over the world. Included in the vast scope of missions work are about twenty church plants in New England, many churches across Texas, and others all over the United States. Today, mission work is still very close to the heart of the Berean family as they continue to seek ways to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
The mission of the Berean family is to continue what was built over the last half-century by working hard to honor God with our lives and share God's love with all those we meet. The focus of this mission is relying on God's grace every step of the way.
UPDATE: As Berean continues to live out her Glorify God, Equip the Church, Impact the World philosophy, God has brought the challenge of a campus move into view. We officially sold our 302 N Town East campus after 44 years at that location, and we are preparing to build a new church campus on Hwy 80 in Sunnyvale, TX. Currently the church is meeting at New Hope Funeral Home, as we build our new building on our property right next door. We appreciate your prayers for our church during this process.
